Programs

At Vancouver Madinah, we offer various types of events that help young people develop as individuals and as a community. The purpose of these activities is to provide a framework through which youth can develop their skills, interests, and passions. We also promote the development of  healthy and responsible leaders both now and in the future.  We do this by focusing on 3 areas; Educational, Humanitarian, and Recreational.

Educational:

  • Train our leaders to have a better understanding of their community by stimulating their thirst for knowledge

  • Recruit academic scholars and religious teachers who will impart valuable lessons for personal improvement

  • Some of our event examples include:

    • Monthly Madinah Meetups ( an interactive talk with a guest speaker on various topics), financial seminar

Humanitarian:

  • Alleviate the difficulties and hardships of our fellow brothers and sisters through humanitarian activities

  • Remind our youth of their privileges in helping out with those in need of help.

  • Some of our event examples include:

    • Iftar with Newcomers, Iftar in the Downtown Eastside, Winter clothing drive, Care-kits, etc

Recreational:

  • Support recreational activities to promote health and well-being

  • Cater to the needs and interests of every single individual

  • Some of our event examples include:

    • Hikes in the summer, Snowboarding/skiing event in the winter, community runs like the CIBC Run for the Cure

Book Club

As part of our educational stream of programs, Vancouver Madinah wants to cultivate a shared culture of reading that encourages an exploration of Muslim identity, values, and lifestyle. The "Book Club" is run by our volunteers to promote this culture.

The books that we read, which could be of any genre, are chosen by the book club members' votes through an online poll, and monthly meetings are held to discuss any aspect of the book that we find interesting. We encourage equal opportunity for each member to lead the discussion, and the meetings are open for all, even for those who haven't read the book.

To join our book club, you may either join our Facebook group or sign-up to our book club mailing list.
